ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire

ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire is available in two profiles and three configurations to accommodate a diverse range of security requirements.

PROFILES

Short Barb

Predominantly used for commercial or industrial sites, ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire short barb is a strong deterrent to unlawful access.

Long Barb

Predominantly used in high risk security situations such as prisons, military installations, and high explosive areas. ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire long barb is the ultimate in access prevention.

CONFIGURATIONS

Both ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire profiles are available in three different configurations: Rings, Coils or Concertina

Rings

Rings are used on the top of gates or the bottom of security fencing acting as an additional guard against unlawful entry.

Coils

Single coil is used on top of security fencing, and is strung on top of the other materials adding significant visual and physical barriers to entry.

Concertina

Clipped concertina configuration is the highest security deterrent available. With each loop clipped to its neighbour, ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire concertina is extremely difficult to defeat.

MANUFACTURE

ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire is manufactured from metal tape and high tensile wire. The profile is stamped from the metal tape on a specially designed press. This preformed tape is then fed into a machine that forms a groove into which the high tensile wire is fed and pressed into place.

Finally, the fully formed ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire is twisted to form the rings. To form a concertina roll the rings are clipped top and bottom.

MATERIAL

Galvanised steel is used to manufacture the ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire tape making it is extremely durable in high security areas. In extremely corrosive environments stainless steel is used.

High tensile wire is used in most ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire products but spring steel is available for extra protection.

STANDARD LENGTH

ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire Coil and Concertina products have 51 loops in a standard length. Therefore the Concertina configuration, due to its double coiling, provides half the extended length of the Single Coil.

Single Coil = 15m
Concertina = 7.5m

STANDARD DIAMETER

ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire is manufactured to a standard ring diameter of 450mm. Other diameters such as 600mm, 750mm and 900mm can be manufactured to order.

INSTALLATION

The illustration shows three styles of fence where ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire can be added for extra security. To check the suitability of other fences or barriers, please contact Hampden Fence Ltd.

ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire must be installed to a fence or a structure at minimum height of 2 metres above ground level.

ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire should only be installed by those with suitable training and using appropriate Personal Protection equipment.

WARNINGS

Warning signs must be clearly displayed on all structures to which ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire is affixed. The signs must state:

Danger - Property protected by ArmourBarb™ Razor Wire - Do not touch or climb

Hampden Fence recommends that the supplied warning signs be fixed at 7.5mm intervals along the running length of the fence.

Hampden Fence advises that the failure to install these products within the listed guidelines, or to handle them with due care, could result in serious injury.
